As Washington gears up to implement I-502, opposition voices concerns about the legal marijuana making its way to other states. In response to such concerns, Governor Jay Inslee said, “I am going to be personally committed to have a well regulated, well disciplined, well tracked, well inventory-controlled, well law-enforcement-coordinated approach.”

If/when the showdown occurs with the federal government, I hope the flailing GOP party decides to take up cannabis legalization as a state's rights issue. It's baffling since cannabis reform enjoys majority support nationwide (3/4 of Americans want fed to respect states' rights on cannabis), fits right into their 'small government,' and could gain them new party members outside the traditional GOP, yet they are largely silent…
