Public Policy Institute of California released survey results yesterday; 53% of California voters favor marijuana legalization and 44% oppose. 60% of independents and 57% of Democrats favor legalization, while 62 percent of Republicans oppose it. 63% of blacks and 57% of whites favor legalization, while 60% of Latinos oppose it. Asians are split (44% yes, 48% no). Younger Californians are much more likely than adults age 35 or older to vote yes (64% 18 to 34, 39% 35 to 54, 47% 55 and older).
