Federal law still considers marijuana as a dangerous drug, so prosecutors could easily bring drug-trafficking charges against anyone whose salary is paid by taxes collected on legal marijuana sales, and the risk is even greater for dozens of former cops and soldiers working as armed guards in the marijuana industry.
Let’s not forget those of us who have already endured bank account closures, IRS hasslements, and other forgotten side effects of the War on Drugs. Here in Oregon, medical marijuana has been legal for 15 years. Card clinics have been around that long, dispensaries just became state-legal, but working for either one will get your bank account (that you had before you took the job) summarily closed down – and they refuse to explain why. I am looking at YOU, Bank of America. How can you offer me a pre-approved credit line (my account was healthy enough for that), the same day that you send me a letter telling me to get my dirty money out of your clean bank?
Hypocrites. You banking types happily accept monies from pharmeceutical employees, liquor store owners, you will even accept deposits from PORN shops. But let me try to cash my paycheck from a legal medical clinic, a doctor’s office! and it sticks in your throat. Well, you will be first up against the wall when the revolution comes, Bank of America. First against the wall.
