The Grateful Dead are one of the biggest musical forces in cannabis culture and pretty much have been since the entire concept of a “cannabis culture” was created. As such, it’s no surprise at all that a great strain of bud is named after said band. As a musician and music fan myself, the Dead have always had a special place in my heart, somewhere near wherever the place cannabis exists.

They go hand in hand…
Deadhead OG is a true hybrid strain made up by crossing ChemDawg (a sativa) and San Fernando Valley Kush (a fairly heavy indica that typically has a purple tint to the leaves). The effect is a consistently strong mixture of head and body high; a nice pain relief effect is paired with the strong “stoney” head high that makes for a great all around smoke.
The nug density was also impressive, with tight and large nugs that smell sweet and musty when broken up in a grinder. Most batches will have dark green nugs. Deadhead OG is a tasty strain with a heavy, sweet kush flavor that goes great in a blunt or joint because it burns even and smooth.
The all-around effect is good for daytime if your tolerance is higher, but it is strong and probably would not be good for work or something that would require a clear head or incredible focus. Instead, I highly recommend smoking this strain while listening to your favorite record. Maybe American Beauty or Europe ‘72.
