I’ve mentioned many times how listening to music is one of my favorite things to do while high. Typically, I am looking for one of two things when I do this. I either want relaxed, ambient, classical-like music to chill me out. Or, I want fast, upbeat, electronic-like music to get me amped up. Lindsey Stirling is an artists who manages to fulfill both roles simultaneously.

2013 release, Lindsey Stirling

Lindsey Stirling’s music can be considered classy violin dubstep. Her first and currently only studio album, Lindsey Stirling, is composed of her own compositions.

The common denominator in each track is the crazy use of violin. I say crazy because I’m not sure how else to describe it. It’s a mix off classical, rock, hip-hop and video game-esque music. This is coupled with electrical and dubstep beats.

The song titled “Crystallize” captures this engaging style of music excellently. Listening to it while high makes me feel like I am actually turning into crystal. Then “Moon Trace” helps me transform back into my fleshy form.

All my fellow gamers out there will appreciate Lindsey’s work doing various covers from popular games. These include the theme from the Legend of Zelda games, and the main theme from the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Considering Lindsey’s background in classical music to her expeditions in electronic music and dubstep, and her involvement in the video game sphere, I am convinced she would be a fun person to smoke and chill with. I would love to smoke a bowl and play Skyrim with her.

Since that might never happen (I’m still keeping my fingers crossed) I will have to be content to listen to her music. Beginning in March, she will go on tour through the United States. For tour dates, check out her website. I will definitely be going to her show in Seattle!
